Prof. Nikoleta Radionov Karlović is a tenured professor and chair at the Department for Maritime Law at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Law in Croatia. She graduated from the same Faculty in 1994 and started her career in 1995 both as the trainee at the Municipal Court in Zagreb, as well as the assistant at the Zagreb Faculty of Law. She obtained her LL.M. in 1998 with topic „Liability of the Road Freight Carrier for Damages“, and her Ph.D. in 2002 with dissertation entitled „Contractual Liability of the Land Carrier“, both from University of Zagreb Faculty of Law, and both covering closely the implementation of the CMR in comparative legal systems. In 1999 she passed the Bar exam. She obtained her post-doctoral scientific training at Max-Planck Institut for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Max-Planck Institut for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg, Faculte de Droit et de Sciences Politiques Aix-Marseille Universite, University of Edinburgh School of Law etc. From 2016 on she is the president of the Croatian Transport Law Association, where she organized, participated and lectured on over 15 round tables, conferences and workshops covering topics in land and air transport law, EU transport law and transport insurance law, in close cooperation with various stakeholders from the NGO, transport industry and legal practitioners.
Prof. Radionov Karlović is co-author of 3 books and over 30 scientific and professional papers published in national and international journals, among which over 10 are closely linked with the topics related to the CMR convention. Since 2019 she is the appointed expert member of the Committee for Marine, Transport and Telecommunications of the Croatian Parliament. Prof. Radionov Karlović led or participated in 4 national and international scientific projects, and in 2021 was a key-expert for World Bank (with Deloitte Croatia) in consultancy project on audit of PSO Contract in rail passenger transport in Croatia. Prof. Radionov Karlović speaks Croatian, English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
